With All My Heart, Might, (Mind?!), and Strength

I figure it's been long enough since my last post, and today I could no longer fight the urge to make another one. Last night, I was in bed reading one of my journals. I've kept many journals throughout my life, and this one is particularly for recording thoughts and feelings which I feel come from God. Revelation from heaven is a real thing to me, and for the last few years I've been doing my best to keep track of God's voice in my life. This entry was from January 31st, 2025, and it talks about my deep desire to serve the Lord. In Doctrine and Covenants 59:5 , it reads: "Wherefore, I give unto them a commandment, saying thus: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart , with all thy might, mind, and strength; and in the name of Jesus Christ thou shalt serve him." I strive to take this commandment very seriously because the blessings that come from doing so are immensely needed in my life. But ...

Precious Time--Canyon County Detention Center June 2012

In case this is the first post you're reading, I'll give a little background about me. I lived in active addiction for 20 years, and during that time, I got into legal troubles. I spent two and a half years total in jail or prison, and I wrote many journals entries in different facilities. The journal entry you are about to read was written on June 23rd, 2012, in Canyon County Detention Center (CCDC) in Caldwell, Idaho. I had just recently been arrested on attempted robbery of a pharmacy. My drug addiction had gotten me into some deep trouble, and I wasn't sure what was going to happen to me. Prison time was most likely an outcome, and I was feeling very scared and vulnerable. I was able to use much of my time learning about the Savior and praying to Heavenly Father for strength to get me through these times. The entry is as follows (it begins with an excerpt from a book I was reading at the time): ________________________ "Precious Ti...

Seasons of Suffering and Joy

Where do I even start? I haven't posted a lot of content lately, and I've experience so much in just this year. I have a lot to share, but lately I've felt very anxious and hesitant to share it here. It can be very difficult to get it all out and feel like I'm using the right words. I have to work past the fear of being judged or sharing something that might offend someone. I've thought about writing a blog for many years, and I've always originally wanted to share the intimate parts of my life, but with just enough censoring to invite the Spirit while one is reading it. I say this because I walked a path of darkness for a long time, and there are many shocking details involved. Many of my close friends and family know much of these details, and I'm so grateful that they have stuck by me through all the chaos that surrounded me for a lot of years. I know that we all have pasts and they are each so unique, and many of us have experienced deep pain and trauma...
